Who has Time to Talk About Ethics?
“Who has time to talk about ethics?”
While no one may say this aloud, this sentiment is understandable. Healthcare professionals often work long, stressful hours. Any downtime is quickly filled with administrative tasks. Who has time for philosophy?
Unfortunately, ethical dilemmas in healthcare are persistent and unplanned. They can’t be scheduled. Without training, a clinician’s capacity to apply ethics to patient care will remain unchanged each time a crisis presents itself.
While ethical dilemmas can’t be scheduled, ethical training can be. The Center for Practical Bioethics offers flexible, customized workshops tailored for hospitals, health departments and other healthcare organizations. They can last from an hour to a full day. Formats are diverse, ranging from instruction to discussion to group problem solving. Workshops can be in-person or remote.
We understand the moral challenges that arise in healthcare as well as the practical challenges of continuing education. Our workshops have been created in response to both needs.
