Corporate Responsibility for Clinical Misadventures
Corporate Responsibility for Clinical Misadventures
When it comes to conflict of interest, the medical practitioner and patient are most often thought of as key components. Where is the boundary between marketing and medical education? And at what point does a corporation become responsible? Those are the issues addressed by Kenneth Kipnis, University of Hawaii at Manoa, in the September 2011 issue of the American Journal of Bioethics. In this interview, Dr. Kipnis discusses his article, “Impairing Loyalty: Corporate Responsibility for Clinical Misadventures,” and how a corporation could be held responsible for harm to a patient.
