You help relieve sister’s worries about cancer care
Dear CPB Friend:
After earning my PhD in philosophy, I knew I wanted to work in applied ethics.
With support from my Center colleagues, I help individuals promote their values in healthcare by empowering them to have honest, caring conversations with their loved ones and medical providers about their care.
Not long ago, I received a phone call from a woman whose brother had late-stage cancer. She wanted to make sure he was taken care of in his final days. We walked her through serious illness care planning and after several phone calls and emails, were able to ensure that his desires were properly reflected in his treatment options. She said goodbye to her brother shortly thereafter, and felt at peace knowing she honored his wishes.
Your donations make it possible for us to help families like these, as well as medical providers who care for them.
That could mean anything from helping medical providers navigate the nuances of their patients’ wishes to taking a moment to understand where the patient is coming from.
In times like these,
as you plan your year-end giving, please help us help them.
The need is great, and you are the reason we will be able to meet it.
Sincerely,
Polo Camacho, PhD
